Our program provides the hands-on training and classroom instruction needed to pass the National Registry EMT examination and begin your career in emergency medical services. EMT training is also the first step toward a career with Southern Berkshire Ambulance Squad. We actively recruit certified EMTs and encourage course graduates to [apply to join our team](https://southernberkshireambulance.com/application). ## What to expect Massachusetts EMT-Basic certification requires approximately **150–180 hours**of classroom, laboratory, and clinical training. Our course follows the National EMS Education Standards and must be completed at a DPH-accredited institution. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to sit for the NREMT cognitive exam and Massachusetts psychomotor exam. Both must be passed to earn state certification. ## Apply for the EMT course Complete the application and submit it to our office by **August 21, 2026**.
