Checking in on an elderly community member.
Southern Berkshire Ambulance Squad employs certified and credentialed emergency medical technicians responding to patient needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The professional certification level of all ambulance staff is at minimum Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
For any Basic Life Support (BLS) transport, a certified EMT is required to administer medical care on board and during transit. BLS transports are appropriate for patients who require a stretcher and who may need basic medical care during transport, including but not limited to oxygen, suctioning, or monitoring of vital signs.
Training and certification
All EMT personnel must complete standardized annual continuing education requirements to maintain their certifications. Southern Berkshire Ambulance Squad conducts extensive in-house orientation for all newly hired personnel, as well as ongoing training for long-term staff to maintain regulatory compliance and proficiency in all protocols and procedures.
